(A Conspiracy to Sing and Dance)』이 2026년 10월 12일 발매된다.

A Conspiracy to Sing and Dance

A Conspiracy to Sing and Dance
We have put together an album. Ovantgarde, a live music club in Busan, was ordered to close for two months beginning August 26, 2026, because audience members danced to music in a space registered under the “general restaurant” business category.
Current regulations still treat the natural act of moving to music as a matter of entertainment licensing. They do not adequately reflect contemporary live music culture. We share the concerns of those who have spoken out and taken action to bring attention to this issue and call for reforms that reflect the realities of small music venues.
Regulatory reform takes time and involves many steps. For Ovantgarde, these two months could determine whether the venue survives. Rent, electricity bills and instalment payments on equipment continue even while it cannot operate.
Byul.org has performed at Ovantgarde several times, and we value the time we have spent there. We wanted to offer some practical help as the venue gets through this difficult period. That led us to put together a compilation album with fellow musicians we respect and care about.
The participating musicians work in different fields, each with a distinctive musical voice. We have long been avid fans of their work, and as fellow musicians, we trust their approach to making music and their creative choices.
Artists who had performed at Ovantgarde, as well as others who supported the purpose of the project, agreed to take part without hesitation. In a little over two weeks following our initial invitation, they prepared and sent us their music.
The album includes previously unreleased tracks and new tracks not previously released in Korea. Most were written and recorded specifically for this album.
This album is an act of solidarity to help Ovantgarde through this period. Through the music of the participating artists, it also serves as a record of the realities facing small music venues that this suspension has brought into focus.
The issue extends beyond live music clubs. Spaces centred on DJs and electronic music, along with other small music venues, have also been affected by the same regulatory framework. We are deeply grateful to those who have continued to raise awareness of these realities, bring together voices from the music scene and work towards necessary change. We stand in solidarity with their efforts and support their ongoing work.
Necessary safety standards must be upheld. Reforms must also take full account of the demands they place on small venues. We hope workable solutions will be found that reflect the realities and perspectives of the people who run these spaces, allowing a diverse range of music venues to continue operating.
A Conspiracy to Sing and Dance will be released exclusively on CD in a single production run, with no streaming release. All sales proceeds remaining after direct production and related costs have been deducted will be transferred to Ovantgarde following final accounting and in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
We thank all the participating musicians for completing their work within a short time and generously contributing it to this album. We are also deeply grateful to artist Lee Woosung for offering his work for the cover, to JAMESRECORD and Vault Studio for mastering the album, and to Gimbab Records for handling its distribution. Above all, our special thanks go to everyone who listens to and enjoys this album.
We hope music will return to Ovantgarde, and that regulations will change to reflect the realities of small music venues across Korea, allowing everyone to listen to music and dance together at ease, without being “conspirators.”
